More than 29 million students are enrolled in the federal government's National School Lunch Program (NSLP). For these students, school supplies are a luxury. Many arrive at school without a single pencil or notebook, unable to participate in day-to-day lessons and activities. When students have the proper resources students are more prepared which increases their preparedness, class participation, and self-esteem.
When asked about the impact that access to free school supplies has students, educators reported the following: 95%: Access to free supplies is critical to creating a more equal learning environment for students. 95%: Access to free supplies critically impacts daily classroom activities. 93%: Access to free supplies critically impacts their ability to focus on other areas of need in the classroom – not what supplies they or their students were lacking.
